5weeks 4days – Getting Used to the Idea
Can’t believe it’s only been a week and four days that I’ve been aware of the fact that I’m pregnant. Feels like forever already! I feel 3 months pregnant with my tummy being bloated to such an extent that most of my pants don’t fit. I walk around mostly in a very atractive attire of [...]

After last night’s morning sickness incident I had lots of time to ponder exactly what I will need tonight/tomorrow morning.
The shopping list:
Ginger Biscuits
Marie Biscuits
Ginger Ale
Stoney
Pringles – Salt & Vinegar
Gaviscon
So let’s see who wins this time…
If all else fails I’ll get some Zofran, perhaps a bit later on.
P.S. Actually I’m very thankful for my very first [...]
GIFT – Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer
Since my positive GIFT I’ve received quite a lot of queries regarding the procedure. What is it? How does it work? Why did we decide to do GIFT?
What is GIFT?
The ovaries are stimulated to produce multiple follicles. The eggs are retrieved via ultrasound guidance as per normal IVF. Under general anaesthesia a laparoscopy (two small [...]
The 2ww after the 2ww
So let’s recap.
I did a GIFT cycle, which was my 3rd fresh ART cycle (also had a FET, a cancelled FET and a cancelled GIFT), but my this was my first fresh GIFT, and turned out fantastically positive with a Beta hCG count of 640 on 15dpo (CD29) with a follow-up Beta of 2509 4 [...]
BFP. Words are beyond me.
I’ve always wondered, imagining how I would react discovering that I’m finally pregnant. I’m sure everyone reacts differently, but I myself found myself in a space of utter unbelief, like there was this sudden void, and openness about me, almost like someone lifted a dark suffocating membrane from me and I could for once feel [...]

Today is 14dpo, CD 28, D-day for AF. Losing my mind!
Yesterday I had hectic cramps, like, whoop whoop, here comes AF cramps, like run like hell armed with tampon cramps. On and off. I never reallly have on and off cramps, when they start, they stay and I constantly have that numb pain in my [...]
CD17: Out with the stitches
Yes, you guessed it. My belly button got infected. Apparently I should’ve been instructed to open the dressing the day after GIFT, which I wasn’t and ended up with somewhat of a nasty little infection. Could be worse, but still, I was a little miffed that no-one told me to remove the dressing. Anyhow, bygones.
2 [...]
CD16: GIFT#2 – A pain in the Navel
Deary me but this GIFT thing is uncomfortable. Next time I might consider investing in a trip to Mauritius instead! Apparently people get pregnant when they go there too! I wonder if they’ve got published success rates? Hmmm…or perhaps I should add a dash of educational value and go to Machu Picchu, one never knows [...]

So GIFT went well yesterday. Dr.G did a great job as per usual. 17 Eggs retrieved 5 GIFTED back. Ten of the 17 were not too hot, and they had to flush to get some of them out (not good). Taken these results, 5 eggs really aren’t that big a risk.
E2 pre-trigger was 12 000 [...]
